What is Bentyl?
This medication treats different bowel problems including irritable bowel syndrome. It is believed to be effective in reducing spasm of the bowel.

What should I check before I use Bentyl?
Take Bentyl tablets or capsules by mouth. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Swallow the tablets or capsules with a drink of water. It is best to take Bentyl on an empty stomach, 30 minutes to 1 hour before meals. Take your medicine at regular intervals. Do not take your medicine more often than directed.

What precautions should I take while taking Bentyl?
You may get drowsy, dizzy, or have blurred vision. Do not drive, use machinery, or do anything that needs mental alertness until you know how Bentyl affects you. To reduce the risk of dizzy or fainting spells, do not sit or stand up quickly, especially if you are an elder patient. Alcohol can make you more drowsy, avoid alcoholic drinks.

Your mouth may get dry. Chewing sugarless gum or sucking hard candy, and drinking plenty of water will help.

Can I overdose with Bentyl?
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
