What is Elidel (Pimecrolimus)?
This medication is used to treat certain skin conditions including atopic dermatitis, known as eczema.
What should I check before I use Elidel (Pimecrolimus)?

How should I use Elidel (Pimecrolimus)?
This cream is applied to the skin. Apply a thin layer to the affected areas. Rub in gently and completely. Usually, you will continue using the medication until the areas heal. Wash your hands before and after use, unless you are treating your hands and avoid contact with the eyes. Do not cover the treated skin with bandages or other dressings. Do not use Elidel more often than directed or for other types of skin conditions unless directed by your doctor.
This medication is safe for children as young as 2.
What if I miss a dose of Elidel (Pimecrolimus)?
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, take only that dose. Do not take double or extra doses. There should be an interval of at least 12 hours between doses.
What drug(s) may interact with Elidel (Pimecrolimus)?
There are no drug interactions with this medication. Tell your doctor about other skin products you are using. Do not apply Elidel at the same site as other skin medications without advice.

What precautions should I take while taking Elidel (Pimecrolimus)?
Improvements to your skin may occur after the first few weeks of treatment. It is important to keep using Elidel as instructed by your doctor, even if skin looks better, . If you do not notice an improvement in your condition or if your condition gets worse within the first few weeks of treatment, tell your doctor.
Do not cover the skin being treated with bandages, dressings, or wraps. Unless otherwise instructed by your doctor, do not apply another type of skin product on top of Elidel cream. However, you can wear normal clothing over the treated areas.
Avoid sunlight, sun lamps, tanning beds and treatment with UVA or UVB light while using This medication. If you need to be outdoors after applying the cream, wear loose fitting clothing that protects the treated area from the sun. Ask your doctor what other type of sun protection you should use.
Do not shower, take a bath, or swim right after applying Elidel. This could wash off the medication.
Can I overdose with Elidel (Pimecrolimus)?
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
Where can I keep my Elidel (Pimecrolimus)?
Keep out of the reach of children. Store the medication at room temperature, 15-30 degrees C (59-86 degrees F).
